Seeds from Saint Marthe' farm |

Organic seed producer since 1974, la Ferme de Sainte Marthe,
established since 2008 in Brain sur l'Authion, in the center of the Anjou seed valley,
has chosen to produce and distribute traditional and reproducible varieties,
whose seeds can be harvested and re-sown in the same way the following year.
Rather than the strict homogeneity of the varieties listed in the official catalogue,
this choice makes possible to preserve diversity of food
and mainain species and flavors which have long been
a richness for our terroirs and cuisine.
Seeds presented here are not the dead seeds from an old collection,
they are the images of living seeds, harvested almost every year
to be distributed in various packaging
and which you can find in various specialized stores.
But if you read the catalogue, you will also find seeds of unusual plants,
impossible to find, forgotten or 'wild', used in the past as vegetables, condiments
or for their appearance, their flavor or their medicinal properties.

Harvesting is almost always done by hand.
Depending on the species, seed extraction is done by gentle beating, or wet extraction for most fruit vegetables.
Small batches are sorted by hand and some larger batches,
on model cleaning machines.
Some of the seeds from the Ferme de Sainte Marthe are not yet presented here.
But to see most of them, go to the tiled
view, select the ' marthe ' collection (or 'mar')
and even set the large thumbnail view.
You will have a first view of the variety of seeds produced.
